Connemara Pony Poster of 1983
This post on Niamh’s Weblog is very interesting indeed and packed full of Connemara Pony history. A great read for Connemara Pony owners and breeders alike.
In this post Niamh explains how the CPBS Secretary at the time, Phil MacDermott, printed the Connemara Pony Poster to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Connemara Pony Breeders Society.
An extremely successful day at the Walbundrie Show for Dylanglen Ringo Starr!
Champion Led Mountain & Moorland (against New Forrest & Highland)
First Led Mountain & Moorland Gelding
Third Ridden Mountain & Moorland
Following on from a successful Culcairn Show on the 5th October 2013, Michaela Adams decided to take Dylanglen Ringo Starr to Walbundrie Show as well. At that time we did not know Walbundrie would be his final Show. Posting his results under these circumstances is difficult but justice must be done for this super pony. He really went out with a bang! Our Stud could not be more proud of him or more pleased with him when he picked up the Champion Pure-Bred Mountain & Moorland Pony. Unfortunately we had to wait for his ribbon to come in the mail.
True to his nature, and considering his 18 month paddock break, and that he had been at Culcairn Show two days earlier, Michaela could not be happier with how her boy performed. Even though he did not like the mini-roller coaster, he still managed to handle his classes like the show-off he is, especially for his led class. Another great day out together and the champion he received at his final show is fitting to the absolute champion pony that he is. Venue: Walbundrie Showgrounds.
Dylanglen Red Emperor will be keeping Ringo’s competitive spirit alive. Red’s Grand-Sire is Ringo’s Sire, Glenormiston Rossmore (by Oxenholm Gideon IMP). Red is quite a showy little fellow, as Ringo was, so let’s hope Red enjoys the show ring as much as Ringo did.
APSB registered. A very lovely show quality Shetland Pony gelding bred by a very successful local Shetland Pony Stud, Lentara Shetland Stud. Lentara Stud have recently been very successful at Royal Show level.
Amigo is well handled and easy to float, lead and tie up. He is broken-in and has been ridden at both local shows and pony club. Kirsty has been using Amigo as a lead pony for her young daughter. Very friendly nature.
Please contact Kirsty on 0497 035 323 or email Marion at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Price: $3,000 o.n.o.
Dylanglen Stud received an unexpected New Year gift this year. To our surprise this week we found a new little edition in the paddock! Buffy is a “good do-er” but we did not suspect that she was pregnant. Time to catch up with the paperwork.
Dylanglen Buffy gave birth to a rather nice looking bay colt. He has a white star and snip as well as one white back sock. Quite attractive already and showing some good bone. He is a full brother to Dylanglen Red Emperor.
After a meeting today it was decided to name our new little fellow Dylanglen Red Baron. He is already a cheeky little character, running up to you to say hello, but Buffy is still keeping that watchful and glaring eye over him. Baron is not allowed to go too far away just yet! She is a great mum, as well as boss of the paddock, so the new little man is safe and sound.
So, in conclusion, it looks nice “Red” will have his little brother “Baron” following in his footsteps. We expect Baron to give Red some stiff competition in the show ring. It will be very interesting to see how these two go against each other in the future.
Although we are very pleased with this outcome, we pose just one question to Buffy….. “Are you going to give us a filly one day…?”
All 3 ponies are pure-bred ponies and are APSB registered. Approx 2 years old. They are 3 lovely show quality mares bred by a very successful local Shetland Pony Stud, Lentara Shetland Stud. Lentara Shetland Stud has recently been very successful at Royal Show level.
All 3 ponies are well handled including, floated, lead and tied up. They are all sound with a nice and friendly nature. They are well suited to become great kids ponies or lead line ponies, suitable for showing as well as fun at pony club.
Lentara Angelica is Chestnut & White and approx 10.2h. She has the nicest nature of the three Shetlands. Lentara Lambrusca is Black and White and approx 10h. Lentara Octavia is Chestnut & White and approx 9.2h. She is the showiest one of the three Shetlands.
The Shetlands are for sale due to no fault of their own. They were originally purchased to cross with our Welsh A Palomino Pony Stallion but we have since changed our plans for Sunny (Ka Tinkas Sundance).
Price: $1,000 each

Michaela Adams decided to take Dylanglen Ringo Starr to Culcairn Show, a bit of a last minute decision to ensure there were more entries in the Connemara Classes. Considering that Ringo had been on a paddock break for at least 18 months (while Michaela had a new baby boy, Ryan) we could not be happier with how he performed and behaved. Even though he was unfit, he still managed to handle his ridden class with style and without being naughty, and was also his normal show-off self for his led class. Even with little preparation, being a veteran of the show ring, Ringo knew what his job was. We had a great day out together! Venue: Culcairn Showgrounds.
